In one sentence

Unstare is a calm menu bar app for Mac that keeps the 20-20-20 rule for you: every 20 minutes your screen softly frosts over, and you look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

In a few more

Eye doctors suggest a simple habit for long days at a screen: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. The habit is easy. Remembering it is the hard part.

Unstare remembers for you. Ten seconds before a break, a small glass pill slides out from under the notch. Then every display blurs while a glowing ring counts down 20 seconds, and everything is right where you left it afterwards. If you’re on a call, watching something full screen or presenting, the break waits. If you step away for two minutes or more, that counts as a break. Optional 5-minute long breaks add a breathing guide and stretch tips.
